I will work with you to learn what makes your session special so that we can infuse that into your photos.  Whether it is sparkling eyes, an intense game-face or a personal interest - your photos should tell your story.

My Community


I live, laugh and photograph in Truro, Nova Scotia which is in the land of Mi'kma'ki.


I love how our community adds character to my natural light photography, especially when a classic location is part of your story or we get to find visual interest by seeing an everyday space in a new way.

My Day Job


I am a full time high school physics and math teacher, so I have learned a lot about light and angles to help me take photos to the next level. Teachers are encouraged to meet students 'where they are at' and I carry this over to photography, working with what clients want and are comfortable with to get images that best reflect personality.

My Photography


I started to explore digital photography almost two decades ago, but really got serious about it when I had the opportunity to become more involved with school and community photography.  The more I was able to help people feel good about themselves and their talents, the more I have fallen in love with this art form.

Why did I choose 'take your shot' ?

Well, aside from the use of shoot and shot in photography . . . I am a huge fan of musical theatre. Like so many, the songs from Hamilton get stuck in my brain and like Alexander, I am not throwing away my shot. In the same way that those particular lyrics were written to have multiple ways to interpret the phrase, it works on many levels for CNix Photography.


Take your shot to have photographs that you are happy with - but also, take the opportunity to capture a memory or invest in yourself. To see yourself through different eyes and show the world what makes you special.
